BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Brevard County Sheriff deputies said they were forced to use stop sticks to get a suspected drunk driver off the Beachline Friday night. Officers tried to stop the driver on the Beachline in Cape Canaveral.
The Brevard County Sheriff's helicopter also followed Ralph Barden, who allegedly fled a traffic stop near Cocoa. A deputy tried to pull the 26-year-old over, suspecting he was driving drunk.
Barden fled toward SR-528, but the Sheriff's office was successfully able to throw out stop sticks that caused him to get stuck in a highway median.
After Barden was captured, the tires were left shredded from the pursuit and stop sticks.
Deputies swarmed in and pulled their weapons on Barden, along with releasing a police dog.
Investigators said Barden was drunk and is now behind bars.
