Deputy Arrested, Charged With Armed Robbery

ORLANDO, Fla. — An Orange County deputy was arrested Wednesday on several charges, including robbery with a firearm and battery.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Louis Malofsky threatened a man on Woodbury Cove Drive in Orlando (see map) around 3:30am Wednesday and stole from him.

Investigators said the 30-year-old victim told them Malofsky struck him, pointed a gun at him and stole his handgun during a fight. According to investigators, Malofsky later returned the firearm, but without the magazine.

Malofsky was arrested Wednesday afternoon after being questioned by investigators at the sheriff's office and has been relieved from duty without pay. He also had to surrender his badge and weapon. He was charged with robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm, and battery.

According to the sheriff's office, Malofsky joined them on May 25, 2007 and was assigned to the agency's Court Security Section/Juvenile Court Division.
