Father Suing DCF After Toddler's Death

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A Lake County father is suing the Department of Children and Families (DCF) because he says case managers didn't protect his 15-month-old son before his death.

Blake Rupe died of blunt force trauma in 2008. He was allowed to stay with his mother even after DCF found signs of child abuse.

The agency has admitted it failed in Blake's case and that workers did not follow protocol.

The mother's boyfriend, David Tatara, was later charged in the murder.
