CVS begins vaccinating Florida’s more than 350,000 long-term care facility residents

On Monday, CVS started vaccinating more than 350,000 people living in 3,300 long-term care facilities across Florida.

The pharmacy began that work Friday in Connecticut when 95-year-old Jeanne Peters became the first resident at her rehab facility to receive Pfizer’s shot.

This week’s effort delivers vaccinations for nursing homes and assisted living facilities across 12 states, including Florida.

Next week 36 more states will be added in the program that expects to provide 4 million shots at 40,000 facilities over the next four months.

CVS said it will take three visits to complete the two stages of the vaccine with the majority of residents and staff fully vaccinated after three to four weeks.

The vaccines at the long-term facilities and all supplies needed are free, paid for by the federal government.
