ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — There's been another argument involving Orlando Congressman Alan Grayson and, this time, he was recorded in a yelling match with a candidate for Orange County mayor in the middle of a Perkins restaurant (watch argument) .
WATCH: Grayson vs. Falconer At Perkins
The encounter happened Thursday night as a Republican group was meeting at a Perkins restaurant. The group claims the congressman crashed their party.
Congressman Grayson has been getting a reputation for these controversial outbursts, but they're usually on the House floor or cable television. However, this one was inside a crowded Perkins restaurant during dinner time.
Grayson said he just happened to be at the Perkins for a meeting he had with a homeowners' association. He said he decided to stroll over and ask the Republicans why they were spying on Democrats.
"Do you have to interrupt me?" Grayson asked mayoral candidate Matthew Falconer.
"You came and interrupted our meeting," Falconer replied.
The bizarre and heated confrontation between Orange County mayoral candidate Matthew Falconer and Congressman Alan Grayson was caught on camera Thursday night inside the Perkins restaurant on Conroy Windermere Road.
Grayson said someone forwarded the invite to the Republican meeting to him. The guest speaker was a Republican who Grayson said "snuck behind enemy lines into an Organizing for America meeting and learned what they were up to."
"I want you to know this is how low you've all sunk to, to the point where you are spying on people. I hope you're proud of yourself," Grayson said to the group.
The argument only got worse when Falconer accused Grayson of insulting an Orange County GOP leader.
"You said this man couldn't find a $20 bill if it was sticking in his (expletive)," Falconer said. "Be professional Congressman ... after you apologize to this man."
"Take a walk," Grayson said.
"No, you take a walk, you will be lucky to get five percent of the vote, my friend," Falconer said. "Why don't you leave here congressman?"
"Was it appropriate to have this shouting match between Matthew Falconer and yourself?" WFTV reporter Kenneth Moton asked Grayson.
"He may have shouted at me, I didn't shout at him," Grayson said.
"If you look at any of his statements, he's as rude as possible, not befitting the office of a U.S. congressman and I think our response was appropriate," Falconer told WFTV.
From his "die quickly" comment during the health care debate to calling former Vice President Dick Cheney a vampire, this incident is just one more controversy involving the congressman.
"I don't need somebody to spy on you. There are people in this room who sent this to me," Grayson told Falconer.
Friday, a Seminole County Republican, who plans on running against Congressman Grayson, told WFTV he wants the Democrat to step down.
