ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.,None — Orange County Sheriff's officials have released the names of the two people killed in a murder/suicide Saturday.
According to officials, 24-year-old Ryan Scurlock killed himself after killing 21-year-old Jennifer Roqueta.
Scurlock shot and killed himself at The Shooting Gallery gun range on west 39th Street in Orlando Saturday afternoon.
Officials were already looking for Scurlock when they received the 911 call about a suicide at the gun range. Acquaintances of Scurlock contacted deputies to request a well-being check after they said they received distraught text messages from him.
The investigation at the gun range led deputies to the Polo's East apartment complex on Woodbury Road where they found Roqueta and a dog dead inside.
According to co-workers, Roqueta worked at Buffalo Wild Wings on Alafaya Trail in the Waterford Lakes section of Orange County. She was an employee of the eatery for the past two years, a manager said.
The manager told WFTV she was a great person and a great worker. He said she was liked by everyone and was always smiling.
The manager said Roqueta and Scurlock had dated in the past, but their relationship ended.
Roqueta's parents, who live in South Florida, were at her apartment Sunday afternoon picking up her belongings. They declined an interview.
Domestic violence deaths appear to be on the rise in Orange County.
Two weeks ago, police said Scott Myers killed his girlfriend in her Oviedo home.
In July, authorities said Christopher Jodon ran his ex-girlfriend off I-4 in Volusia County. He allegedly stabbed her to death before stabbing himself.
In April, police said Jose Maisonet-Maldinado stabbed his girlfriend to death in Orange County before leading deputies on a chase that ended in a crash on Colonial Drive near downtown Orlando. That crash killed two others.
