5 workers injured when floor collapses 5 stories up at I-Drive construction site

ORLANDO, Fla. — Five construction workers were injured early Tuesday when there was a collapse on the fifth floor while they were pouring concrete at a site on International Drive, police said.

The collapse, which happened at about 3:27 a.m., caused the construction workers to fall between 8-12 feet to the floor below.

All five were injured, but only three were taken to the hospital.

The other two were treated at the scene, police said.

After the floor collapsed, the Orlando Fire Department had to use a bucket truck to rescue the workers from the fourth floor.

According to signage at the construction site, a Hyatt House is being built on the spot.

Code Enforcement was investigating the collapse.
