Police: Man seen running from MetroWest shooting scene in custody

ORLANDO, Fla. — Channel has learned a man seen running from a deadly shooting scene at the Fountains at Metrowest apartments in Orlando on Thursday was apprehended several miles away in Ocoee.

The unidentified victim was found fatally shot in the complex parking lot on Westgate Drive.

Investigators haven't identified the man in custody but said they're still working to tie him to the slaying.

"They just told me to get in the house, standard procedure, had a big German shepherd," said witness William Shuttles.

Orlando police set up a perimeter and used K-9's to search the neighborhood behind the apartment complex.

Guns were drawn as officers found a pry bar near a home they thought the suspect might have been hiding in.

Dan Rosade lives in the home and said it's a pretty quiet neighborhood so he was surprised to learn authorities were looking for a shooting suspect.

"I don't know. I just got home and the laundry room is closed and locked, and it's usually never locked. There's nothing there to steal," he said.

Deputies said the man they were looking for was found about 6 miles away in Ocoee.

"I think it's horrible," said Shuttles. "I mean, crime, the way it is and being so close, it hits home. It's scary."
