Man, woman die in Casselberry house fire

CASSELBERRY, Fla. — A house fire in Casselberry is under investigation after a man and woman were found dead inside the home Saturday morning, officials said.

Casselberry fire officials said crews were called to the home on Shady Hollow Lane shortly after 8 a.m. A neighbor called 911 after seeing smoke and trying to get inside to help the residents, officials said.

"I looked out the window and saw flames shooting out the top of the house," resident James Antonietta said.

Two victims, a man and woman, were found dead in the home after firefighters knocked down the fire.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the family," neighbor Tim Ippolito said.

Authorities said the victims were in their 30s. Their identities haven't been released by officials.

Several neighbors told WFTV they were devastated when they found about the deaths.

"It was terrifying, it was absolutely terrifying," neighbor Angela Ingrassia said. "Throughout the day I've had crying fits. It doesn't feel real."

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state fire marshal. Officials said there were no working smoke detectors in the home, which is currently in foreclosure.
