2 killed after car crashes into trees, troopers say

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Two men have died following a Lake County crash Sunday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the crash happened around 1:30 a.m. near County Road 42 and Crows Bluff Road.

According to a news release, a Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on County Road 42.

It is unclear why the Honda drove across the center line and onto the north shoulder, causing the car to collide with a tree.

Investigators said the Honda continued to drive north and crashed into another tree.

The 23-year-old driver and the 21-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
