ORLANDO, Fla. — A 4-year-old child was injured after being shot at an Orlando apartment complex Tuesday morning.

According to police, officers were called to the Nassau Bay apartments just before 11 a.m. after receiving reports of some type of unknown trouble.

Orlando police say when they arrived at the complex they found a child had been shot.

Officers say the child was injured after picking up a firearm, accidentally firing the weapon.

Police say the child was taken to the hospital for treatment of a “non-life-threatening injury.”

Officers say they are investigating the shooting and have not made a determination on if charges will be filed.
