Accused two-time killer Markeith Loyd skips court hearing

A court hearing was held Tuesday morning for accused two-time killer Markeith Loyd, but he did not appear in court.
Loyd's attorney told Judge Fred Lauten that he didn't want to attend. The judge said it was fine that Loyd did not attend, but that there will be times when he "absolutely has to be here."

ORLANDO, Fla. — Loyd is accused of fatally shooting his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon, in December and Orlando police Lt. Debra Clayton in January.

Loyd's trial for Clayton's killing is scheduled to begin on Jan. 14, 2019. State Attorney Brad King told the judge he would like to try and select a jury from Orange County.

Loyd's trial for Dixon's killing is scheduled to begin on Sept. 11, 2018.

During his last status hearing in October, Loyd told the judge he was willing to take a lie detector test.
Loyd could face the death penalty if he is convicted of killing Dixon and Clayton.
