Airport officials prepare for record number of passengers during Spring Break

ORLANDO, Fla. — Officials with Orlando International Airport are expecting near-record passenger traffic during this year’s spring break period.

Tom Draper with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority says contrary to what many may think, the weeks between Feb. 27 and April 19 are some of the busiest at Orlando International Airport.

“This is our Super Bowl. This is when we have the opportunity to demonstrate to the world what great customer service and the Orlando Experience really means,” Draper said.

Last year, Orlando International registered 5.2 million passengers during the spring break travel period.

This year, more than 7 million passengers are expected to travel through Orlando during that same time frame.

Officials said just like on other busy days, people flying in or out of Orlando should arrive at least three hours before their flight.
