All-breed horse parade returns to downtown Ocala on Oct. 10

OCALA, Fla. — Horses representing a range of breeds and equestrian traditions will take over downtown Ocala when the All-Breed Horse Parade returns next month.

The free parade begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. It will feature horses, riders, ponies, miniature horses, mules and horse-drawn carriages from across Marion County.

Organizers say the annual event is intended to introduce residents and visitors to the diversity of the area’s equine community.

“With more than 70 breeds calling our community home, there is so much for people to experience and learn,” said Louisa Barton, director of the Equine Initiative for the Ocala Metro Chamber & Economic Partnership. “Whether someone has been around horses their entire life or this is their first real introduction to them, we want them to come downtown, meet the horses and riders and experience what makes our equine community so special.”

Last year’s parade included Mustangs, Florida Cracker Horses, Gypsy Vanners, Percherons, Clydesdales and Mangalarga Marchadors. Participants represented English and Western riding, mounted games and other equestrian disciplines.

The parade had grown to include nearly 100 horses before the COVID-19 pandemic, with the Budweiser Clydesdales among its past participants. After several years at a different location, the event returned to downtown Ocala in 2025.

Ocala and Marion County’s equine industry contributes an estimated $4.3 billion annually to the local economy, according to the CEP.

“The equine industry is woven into the identity and economy of the Ocala Metro, and this parade is a great example of what makes our community unique,” CEP President and CEO Matt McCormick said.

The event is presented by Pat Myers Electric and is part of the CEP Equine Initiative, presented by Pyranha Animal Health. The initiative works to connect the region’s equestrian industry with residents and the broader business community.
