Baby monkey born at Jacksonville zoo

The sex of a baby monkey born at the Jacksonville zoo has not yet been determined because its mother is keeping the newborn so close.

The Angolan colobus monkey is the first of its species born at the zoo.

Angolan colobus monkeys are native to the dense rainforest of the Congo.

Its fur is solid white but will gradually turn black during the first six months of its life.

A zoo spokesperson said it is standard practice to avoid disrupting mother-infant bonding.

The newborn’s sex and name will be announced soon.
