SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Joshua Rosario Morales was arrested Wednesday on bank robbery charges and now authorities are wondering if he robbed the same bank less than two months ago.
Morales, 31, was arrested Wednesday after leading Seminole County Sheriff’s deputies on a chase from the Chase Bank on Village Oak Lane to State Road 434 where he crashed into a utility pole.
Morales is accused of approaching a teller at the bank with a note demanding money. He did not say or indicate he had a weapon, investigators said.
The teller gave Morales an undisclosed amount of cash and he fled on foot before getting into a car in a nearby parking lot, deputies said.
Bank employees gave law enforcement a description of the car and they were able to quickly locate it and follow it onto Interstate 4.
Deputies reported following the car, which was driving erratically through heavy traffic. It exited the interstate at State Road 434 where it hit another vehicle.
Damage in the first crash was minor and the driver of the other car was not injured, deputies said.
Morales continued on until he crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of SR 434 and Wekiva Springs Road, deputies said.
The suspect received minor injuries in the crash, but was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Morales faces charges of robbery without a firearm or weapon, fleeing and eluding, and driving on a suspended license.
The same Chase Bank was robbed less than two months ago and deputies said Morales fits the description of the suspect in that robbery as well.
Investigators are looking into a possible connection between the two robberies.
