Body cam video released in deputy-involved shooting of armed suspect in horse pasture near Deland

LAKE COUNTY, Fla — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office released body camera video of the shooting of an armed trespassing suspect from May 2.

In the video, you can see deputies chasing the suspect, Daniel Sayre just before he was shot.

On Sunday Lake County deputies responded to the area of Cooter Pond Road just west of Deland to reports of an armed trespasser.

“There was a, there was a man in my pasture with a gun, with a rifle was walking toward the house and he looked kind of crazy.” a neighbor said in a 911 call.

According to investigators, when they first arrived Sayre ran from deputies into a nearby wooded area.

As deputies searched the woods they confronted Sayer who was then shot by a deputy.

Sayre was then taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has been called in to investigate the shooting.
