JROTC student carrying dummy rifle near campus prompts lockdown at Rockledge High, police say

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. — Rockledge police said a JROTC student walking near the campus of Rockledge High School carrying a dummy rifle prompted a lockdown at the school Tuesday morning.

Police said a student snapped a picture of the student carrying the dummy weapon not knowing that the weapon wasn’t real.

Investigators said that prompted the lockdown, which was lifted as soon as the student and the fake weapon were identified.

Police said the weapon was one that is used by JROTC students in parades or ceremonies.

Police said no charges will be filed.
