ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Forest Service responded to a large brush fire in Avalon Monday afternoon.
The fire was reported at about 3:05 p.m. in the area of Wild Tamarind Boulevard.
The fire started in a conservation area and was threatening nearby homes, authorities said.
By 5:30 p.m., Forest Service reported the fire encompassed about 20 acres and was 90 percent contained.
Fire crews were expected to remain on the scene overnight.
No information was available on the cause or extent of the fire.
No injuries or property damage were immediately reported.
