Brutal middle school fight caught on cellphone video

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — WFTV talked to a victim who was involved in a brutal middle school fight that was captured on cellphone video in Orange County on Wednesday.

Orange County deputies are investigating three girls and a boy as suspects in the attack, which happened near Robinswood Middle School.

On Thursday, Channel 9's Jeff Deal talked to the mother of 14-year-old Julia Slaughter, who filed a report with investigators.

Slaughter said she was attacked by a group of former friends over the fact that they weren’t friends anymore.

In the cellphone video, several teens can be seen pummeling Slaughter.

“We was halfway down the street, and they was hitting my friend and she wouldn't do nothing, so we kept walking,” Slaughter said.

But as the two kept walking, teens started crowding around and someone jumped on the friend, and Slaughter said she got pulled into the mix.

Punches were being thrown constantly in the video, and at one point, the video shows Slaughter getting up and trying to walk away.

Moments later, however, she was back on the ground getting punched and kicked.

Julia's mother, Tammy Roundtree, said her daughter suffered a slight concussion.

Roundtree said school officials told her there was nothing they could do because the fight happened off school grounds, so the Orange County Sheriff's Office is now investigating.

The Sheriff's Office said no arrests have been made in the case.
