ORLANDO, Fla. — A surge of tropical moisture will keep rain and storm chances elevated across Florida on Friday, with some areas at risk for heavy rainfall and localized flooding.
Friday started with fast-moving showers along the coast, but rain coverage is expected to increase through the afternoon as widely scattered showers and thunderstorms develop across the region.
The greatest concern will be heavy downpours.
Some communities could pick up between 2 and 4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts possible.
That could lead to localized flooding, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution and never drive through flooded roadways.
High temperatures on Friday will stay in the mid to upper 80s thanks to the increased cloud cover and rainfall.
Rain chances will remain elevated into Saturday before slightly drier air begins moving into the state on Sunday and continues into next week.
As the wetter pattern eases, temperatures will begin climbing.
Afternoon highs are expected to reach the mid-90s by next week, bringing hotter and more humid conditions back to the area.
