Cocoa police search for Radio Shack burglars

COCOA, Fla. — Investigators are working to identify a band of burglars who they said may be targeting Radio Shacks.

Police in four Brevard County jurisdictions are working to find out if the crimes are connected.

The latest burglary happened at the Radio Shack in the Cocoa Commons plaza on Clear Lake Road.

Police said the burglars smashed their way inside the store and quickly grabbed several display items.

“It’s getting out of control around here, it really is. You work hard to build these things and then someone is just going to come right in and feel free to take it,” said resident Autumn Foster.

Investigators said surveillance video captured some of the incident.

“From what they could see there was four males with purpose. Each had a job to do. They knew exactly where they were going, what they were doing and they bypassed several high-dollar Bluetooth items, valued at way more than what they took,” said Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.

The burglars took 14 display phones, valued at about $8,000.

The group may have also hit a Radio Shack this weekend located in the county on Wickham Road.

In July, Radio Shack stores were burglarized in Palm Bay and Melbourne.

“These cases are hard because we’ve had these types of things before; they just travel up and down that I-95 corridor. They’re in, they’re out, they’re faces are covered,” said Martinez.
