College of Sciences building at UCF reopened after evacuation

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The College of Sciences building at the University of Central Florida was been evacuated Tuesday afternoon.

The school sent out an email to students and staff just before 1 p.m. saying the facility was being evacuated because of a suspicious package.

Just before 2:30 p.m. the university reported that the UCF Police Department, Orange County Fire Rescue and Orange County Sheriff’s Office are on the scene.

They asked people to stay away from the area around the building and said all other campus operations were normal.

At 3:40 p.m. the university reported that the suspicious package was determined to be harmless, and the building was reopened.
