ORLANDO, Fla. — Police said they're searching for the thieves who recently broke into multiple units at Public Storage facilities in Orlando.
Units at the Public Storage on LB McLeod Road were recently broke into, according to police.
Mark Lobin said his storage unit was ransacked and several items were stolen by the burglars.
"People should do the right thing. They shouldn't steal from people. That's all I have to say," Lobin said.
Police said the thieves broke the lock on Lobin's rented unit and stole thousands of dollars worth of personal items.
Lobin is not the only victim. A couple reported that their unit was also burglarized. The victims said a .357 revolver and a shotgun was stolen.
Days after the first burglaries were reported, a customer at the Public Storage on S. Semoran Boulevard discovered his unit had been broken into. The customer reported that nearly $800 in items were stolen during the burglary.
It's puzzling for the victims because the Public Storage facilities are protected 24 hours a day, and customers must enter a pin code to gain access to the property.
Police said the incidents remain under investigation and it's unclear if the cases are connected.
"I just hope everybody gets their stuff back," Lobin said.
