Deputies arrest alleged Orange County ATM robber

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies arrested a man who they said robbed a woman at an ATM in Dr. Phillips last month.

Deputies said Benjamin Dolan was in the process of planning his next crime when he was caught.

Deputies were able to crack the case through text messages on the suspect’s cellphone and surveillance pictures captured at the ATM where the victim was robbed.

“We interviewed him. He has confessed,” said Cpl. Joe Covelli. “It was for his drug addiction and his drug addiction is heroin.”

Deputies said they intercepted text messages sent by Dolan allegedly trying to score a gun so he could commit another robbery.

Dolan also has pending charges in Brevard and Seminole counties.

Arrest records show he has a lengthy criminal history.

“He’s been breaking into houses, living with people, and taking their stuff and pawning it,” Covelli said.

Dolan will likely go before a judge Thursday morning on robbery charges.
