ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.,None — Investigators say a man died shortly after he was found bleeding on the porch of a home in Tangelo Park Friday morning.
The victim, identified as Bruce Bridges, 52, knocked on the door of a home on Vanguard Street, bleeding and looking for help, but died before paramedics arrived.
Vanguard Street in the Tangelo Park neighborhood was blocked off as Orange County Sheriff's investigators began looking into the case.
It was 7 a.m. when people at the house called 911 after finding Bridges covered in blood on their front porch. Investigators said he was bleeding from several wounds, possibly from a shooting or a stabbing. They think he was attacked somewhere else -- possibly in the street -- and he tried to go to the home for help.
"He was able to get to the door somehow, walk, crawl or however, he was able to get there and get the residents to call 911," said Jeff Williamson of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies and paramedics arrived, the victim was already dead.
WFTV talked to a friend of the resident where the victim was found.
"No, she doesn't know who he is. I guess he was just asking for help," Carmen McLaughlin said.
Investigators don't know what led to the killing, but a scenario they're looking into is the possibility a girlfriend killed him during a domestic dispute. Neighbors said they did hear noise last night.
"They're like, ‘did you hear anything?’ I'm like, ‘I heard some yelling, and then I fell asleep,'" said a neighbor.
Later in the morning, people who knew the victim consoled each other as investigators processed the crime scene.
"I'm scared now. I really am. I really am very leery," neighbor Mahallia Harris said.
"It's a surprise," neighbor Carlos Fontanez said. "Makes us want to have our doors locked at night."
Detectives said they are looking for a black female, 20 to 30 years of age, who was last seen driving a purple 2001 PT Cruiser L/P 428 PDX.
The vehicle has been reported stolen by the owner, and was last scene on Vanguard Street near the homicide scene.
If anyone has information on the vehicle or the black female seen driving it, they are asked to please call the Orange County Sheriff's Office or Crimeline.
