ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman was wounded early Saturday when her 18-year-old ex-boyfriend broke into her apartment and stabbed her, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.
The incident happened shortly before 5:45 a.m. at the Wisper Palms apartments on South Alafaya Trail, Orange County Capt. Angelo Nieves said.
Investigators said the man entered the apartment while the woman was sleeping and then stabbed her multiple times.

"The victim bravely fought back, injuring the defendant," Nieves said.
Deputies said the woman then escaped to a neighboring apartment to seek help while her ex-boyfriend fled to a wooded area to hide.
Investigators said they were able to track down the man using search dogs.
The woman was hospitalized in stable condition, and the man's condition wasn't specified.
Nieves said the man, who wasn't publicly identified, will be charged with attempted murder and other felonies.
The incident continues to be investigated.
