Witnesses: Man shot to death dumped from car in Lockhart neighborhood

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man in a Lockhart neighborhood.

Edwin Roman, 36, was found shot shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday on Gwynne Avenue near Clarcona Ocoee Road and North Orange Blossom Trail, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said. Witnesses said they saw a car pull up and the occupants dump Roman out of it before speeding off.

Neighbors said Roman was well-known in the neighborhood.

"It just breaks my heart that this man has been killed unnecessarily, and he has left three children, plus one that is going to be born," said resident Ida Walls.

"Just a humble guy. He's got a family, got three kids of his own, goes to work every day, comes home. He came over here to hang out for a little bit and the next thing you know he got shot," Elvis McKee, a friend, said.

Residents said the community is tight-knit.

"People come up and talk to me that I've known all my life around here. I raised half the kids in the neighborhood like they were my kids," said one neighbor, Tommy Walls.

Roman was rushed to Florida Hospital where he later died.
