Deputies: Man arrested after body found in trunk of smoldering vehicle in Lake County

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orlando man was arrested Tuesday after a man's body was found late Monday in the trunk of a smoldering vehicle south of Clermont, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said.

Ivan Enrique-Figueroa-Serrano was arrested at his Orlando apartment Tuesday night.

He's charged with murder, attempted murder and two counts of kidnapping, investigators said.

Deputies were called to North Bradshaw Road -- an orange grove-lined dirt road near Lake Louisa's eastern shore -- after receiving a report that a man was in the middle of the road trying to flag down passersby, Lake County Sgt. Fred Jones said.

The man told deputies that he and his friend went to a home, and Enrique-Figueroa-Serrano answered the door with a gun and ordered one of the men to the ground, investigators said. An argument began about how one of the victims stole from the suspect, deputies said.

Enrique-Figueroa-Serrano then ordered both men to get into the trunk of a vehicle, and they were driven to North Bradshaw Road, deputies said.

Enrique-Figueroa-Serrano is accused of setting the vehicle on fire, deputies said. The two victims tried escaping the trunk but were shot at, deputies said. One of the victims died in the trunk; the other got out of the trunk, walked toward U.S. Route 27 and flagged down help, deputies said.

Investigators said they searched the area and found a man's body in the trunk of the burned-out vehicle.

The identities of the men haven't been released.

Deputies said the surviving victim is cooperating with the investigation.

"Everything he says that happened appears to have happened," Jones said.

Enrique-Figueroa-Serrano is being held without bail.
