Deputies: Two-year-old girl fell from hotel balcony

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla — Orange County deputies said a two-year-old girl was left unattended and fell off a balcony, Saturday night.

Officials said it happened around 8 o’clock at the Marriott Grande Vista on International Drive.

Investigators said the girl was with her grandmother and some other people and, somehow, got onto the balcony and fell four stories to the ground below. Her injuries were severe enough that emergency workers called for a medical helicopter.

The Vice President of Marriott Corporate Affairs contacted WFTV and said a palm tree softened the little girl’s fall.

Authorities said the family just arrived in Orange County on Saturday for a vacation.

Officials said the girl was taken to the Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital and should be ok. She will be held overnight for observation.

DCF said an investigator was called and the agency plans to investigate the incident as a child neglect case because the girl was left unattended.
