Detectives concerned murder suspect may have more victims

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County homicide investigators said they're concerned that a suspect in a 2011 murder, who was just arrested in late August, may have more victims.

Daniel Craven Jr. is being held at the Orange County Jail with no bond. But now there are new questions detectives are trying to answer about his troubled past.

Craven is currently facing a second-degree murder charge for allegedly beating and drowning romantic rival Ronald Justice in a dog bowl filled with water.

Investigators said he then brought Justice's body to a home on Slote Drive in Apopka and burned and buried him in the back yard.

"He burned everything there, had the fire department there a couple times a week," neighbor William Chapelle said.

In April 2013 detectives dug through the back yard of the Apopka home and found what's believed to be Justice's bone fragments.

"We used to hang out all the time. One day he just up and vanished," Craven's friend Donald Gray said.

The 27-year-old was arrested in August for the alleged violent crime, but now deputies are taking another look at the suspect.

Residents on Slote Drive said Craven instilled fear in the neighborhood and would brag about allegedly killing others.

"I heard he threatened people," Chapelle said.

According to homicide detectives, the suspect's sister recorded him confessing to her that he killed four other people. That's what authorities are trying to corroborate by searching for new leads.

"It's a darn shame because the rest of his family are pretty nice people. It's one bad egg that spoiled the carton," Chapelle said.

WFTV's Anthony DiLorenzo reached out the Craven Jr.'s father, but he didn't want to discuss the case and previously told Eyewitness News he and his son are estranged.
