Florida is a closed-primary state, which means only registered voters who identify with a political party are able to vote in the primary election.

For many residents, there will be a lot of items on the ballot that will need their decisions.

Rep. Anna Eskamani, who is running for re-election, visited Orlando for an event with governor nominee Charlie Christ.

She said it’s important for people to cast their ballots early and plan ahead, especially when busy schedules can get in the way of Election Day.

“This is a primary, so not only do we have the partisan races that are important, we have school board races, county commissioners,” Eskamani said. “Some of these elections will be determined in this August election.”
