EATONVILLE, Fla. — The mayor of one Orange County town could be on the verge of increasing his salary.
Eatonville Mayor Bruce Mount makes $12,000 a year for the part-time position.
There's a plan to change it to full-time and have the job pay $60,000.
Resident Cory Davis said that's way too much money for a town of 2,000 people.
"It's a small town, it's not a big town. It's not a big city, it's just a small town," Davis said.
"Would you support an increase in his salary?" Channel 9's Julie Salomone asked another resident.
"If I had enough information to say that I thought he was doing his job, then sure," resident Eric Layton said.
On the November ballot, voters will decide on a new charter, a document that outlines guidelines for council.
The document redefines the duties of council, sets term limits for council and also proposes a pay raise for the mayor, stating his salary should be 1.5 percent of the town's annual budget.

Mount said he works anywhere between 60 to 70 hours a week and only makes about $12,000 a year.
He said it's a full-time job, making it difficult to leave for the day.
"When they say, 'A bump from ($12,000 to $60,000)?' Look, I'm here 24/7. Everybody works for a living, of course I'm doing this. I want to say this, public service, I am here for the public, as a public servant," Mount said.
There was a town hall meeting Tuesday to discuss the mayor's raise. It could go to the voters on the Nov. 5 ballot.
