LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A 59-year-old Eustis woman was killed and two others were seriously injured Saturday night in a collision in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Michael Chapin, 68, was traveling westbound on State Road 44A shortly before 11:30 p.m. when he attempted to make a left turn onto Johns Lane in the direct path of a car driven by 34-year-old Ryan Reich, FHP Sgt. Kim Montes said.
Chapin was seriously injured in the crash that also killed his passenger, Gail Chapin, Montes said.
Troopers said Reich and one of his passengers, 60-year-old Thomas Reich, were uninjured. But a second passenger, Jane Reich, 59, was seriously injured in the crash.
The crash continues to be investigated.
Montes said charges are pending.
