Ex-Tennessee player accused of enticing Florida teen for sex

A former University of Tennessee football player was arrested after sending sexually explicit photos to what he thought was a 14-year-old girl, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
Pinellas County Sheriff's officials said in a release Wednesday that 23-year-old Mackenzie "Mack" Crowder was arrested Tuesday night near St. Petersburg.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Crowder met the "teen" online and during the course of several conversations sent four sexually explicit photographs to her, deputies said.

He then arranged to meet with her to "engage in sexual acts with him," the Sheriff's Office said in a release.

Crowder was arrested after traveling to meet her in Pinellas County, deputies said.

The arrest came as part of the Sheriff's Office "Operation Wayfarer," which targets adult males who are seeking out underage females on the internet for the purpose of engaging them in sexual activity.

The Sheriff's Office did not release any information on the age or gender of the person in "Operation Wayfarer" that Crowder was actually corresponding with.

Crowder said he knew the girl was 14 and admitted to sending the photographs, investigators said.

He was charged with certain use of computer services prohibited and four counts of transmission of material harmful to a minor.

All five charges are felonies.

He was released on $50,000 bond Wednesday. Jail records didn't list an attorney for Crowder.

The University of Tennessee website lists Crowder, of Bristol, Tennessee, as a senior guard and center last season.
