LONGWOOD, Fla. — An investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has cleared Longwood Police Chief Troy Hickson.
FDLE said the investigation came after a former officer accused Hickson of dismissing a case against the son of a city commissioner.
According to FDLE, the individual in the case was not the son of a Longwood commissioner and Hickson broke no laws by dropping the case.
In a response sent to Channel 9 Friday night Hickson said, "Praise be to God! The support I received from family, friends, citizens, city administrator and city commission was very humbling and I am forever grateful for their confidence in me throughout this ordeal."
Last month more than 100 people attended a commission meeting to show support for Hickson.
