ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 23-year-old Orlando man died Monday night after he ran his car into a tractor-trailer carrying a load of sod, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The truck, driven by Ronald Cray, 68, of Saint Cloud was driving west on Colonial Drive just before the crash.
Cray tried to make a U-turn in the area of Sherman Street but couldn’t make the turn, troopers said.
He backed up into the westbound lanes and directly into the path of the 23-year-old’s car, FHP said.
The man, who has not been identified, could not stop in time and crashed into the underside of the truck’s trailer and became stuck, troopers said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cray and a passenger in the truck were not injured.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing and charges are pending, FHP said.
