FHP: Man says someone shot him while driving on I-4 overnight

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A man driving along Interstate 4 through Volusia County was hurt by gunfire early Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said

At around 3 a.m., troopers responded to Halifax Heath Medical Center in Deltona after hospital security notified them about a patient who had been shot.

Officials said the man, 21, showed up to the hospital with a family member.

Troopers said the victim told them he was driving westbound on I-4 when someone in another car fired shots at his Toyota RAV4.

The victim said that after he was shot, he drove home and was taken to the hospital by his mother.

FHP told WFTV that troopers have secured the man’s white Toyota, with three visible bullet holes.

Investigators said the unidentified victim was “stable” and still in the hospital Saturday afternoon, with an injury to his left side.

He could not give troopers a description of the suspect’s vehicle, FHP said.
