LONGWOOD, Fla.,None — A fire destroyed a large home in the Sweetwater Country Club community in Seminole County Saturday night.
Firefighters from both Seminole and Orange counties responded to the home on Sweetwater Club Place shortly before 11:00 p.m.
Officials said two people were inside the home when the fire broke out. Both occupants were able to escape uninjured, according to firefighters.
Crews fought the fire for nearly an hour, but the 3,800 sqaure-foot home was destroyed.
Witnesses told WFTV flames could be seen shooting nearly 50 feet in the air.
"I was in my office over there. I heard a pop and a boom, and looked out the blinds and the whole garage door was in flames," said neighbor Richard LaPointe.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
