First day of Orlando Calling music festival ends

ORLANDO, Fla.,None — The first day of the Orlando Calling music festival wrapped up at the Citrus Bowl Saturday night, with day two beginning at 11:00 am Sunday.

Officials say there were no apparent security, crowd, or parking issues during day one.

The music festival ran all day Saturday and drew thousands of spectators. Roughly 25,000 people have come to the weekend-long event. Another 5,000 to 10,000 are believed to have walked in and bought tickets on site.

Guests at the music festival told WFTV that the crowds have been manageable.

“It's a decent size, not too bad,” spectator Jenna Cotroneo said. “There's enough free space so you can breathe.”

There are five stages at the event, with the main one being inside the Citrus Bowl. The other four are scattered around the stadium. The Killers took the main stage around 9:30 Saturday night.

WFTV found out at least 400 Orlando police officers and private security personnel are on hand in case of any problems.

Orlando Calling promoters hope 60,000 people will visit the two-day event. Promoters expect each traveler spend as much as $1,000 on the whole trip.

The Orlando Calling gates re-open, at 11 a.m. Sunday. Tickets are still available at an average price of $87.50 per person.
