Florida organization sends aid to earthquake survivors in Colombia

One week after Colombia earthquake, Florida organization rallies to send critical aid.

MIAMI, Fla. — Monday marks one week since a devastating earthquake struck Colombia, and rescuers are still searching through the rubble for survivors.

As recovery efforts continue, an organization in Florida is working to provide much-needed assistance to those affected by the disaster.

Donations collected in Florida are being sent to the Colombian-American Association of Florida.

Members of the group say food and rescue supplies are among the most urgent needs as crews continue their work in western Colombia.

Donations collected in Tampa are being trucked to Miami, where they are then flown to western Colombia for distribution.

The organization is also accepting monetary donations to help cover the cost of transporting supplies to those who need them most.
