Florida reports 106 deaths linked to coronavirus, almost 3,300 new cases

ORLANDO, Fla. — Another 106 people have died from illness linked to COVID-19, the Florida Department of Health said Tuesday.

That’s a sharp contrast to the seven deaths state health officials reported Monday.

The latest casualties bring Florida’s death toll to 14,313.

Officials also reported 3,266 new cases of the virus Tuesday, a notable increase from from 738 new cases announced in Monday’s data.

The total number of cases statewide now stands at 704,568, since the pandemic began.

Of the latest 106 deaths reported Tuesday, 20 involved Central Florida residents, including five in Volusia County, three in Osceola County and two each in Orange, Seminole, Brevard, Flagler and Sumter counties.

Polk and Marion counties each reported one new death since Monday.

State data also revealed another 25,178 negative COVID-19 tests, bringing the total number of negative results to 4,585,548.

Osceola:   12,513 (+58) - 148 deaths (+3)

Seminole: 9,053 (+44)  -  211 deaths (+2)

Polk: 19,974 (+86) - 529 deaths (+1)

Volusia:  10,898 (+64) - 244 deaths (+5)

Brevard:  8,983 (+135) - 295 deaths (+2)

Flagler: 1,744 (+15) - 25 deaths (+2)

Lake: 7,517 (+42) - 190 deaths (0)

Marion: 9,760 (+47) - 289 deaths (+1)

Sumter:  2,251 (+23) -  69 deaths (+2)
