ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health said Saturday that another 61 people have died from illness linked to COVID-19, bringing the state’s death toll to 11,963.
Officials also reported 3,656 new cases of the virus, a slight increase from the 3,198 daily cases reported in Friday’s data.
Since the pandemic began, the total number of coronavirus cases in Florida stands at 643,867.

Of the 61 latest deaths reported statewide, 17 involved Central Florida residents, including six in Brevard County, four in Polk County, three in Marion County, two in Seminole County, and one each in Orange and Lake counties.
To date, the number of negative tests recorded by state health officials totals 4,119,940, an increase of 20,144 since Friday.
