Florida reports 99 deaths linked to COVID-19, another 2,500 cases of the virus

ORLANDO, Fla. — State health officials said Tuesday they’ve linked another 99 deaths to coronavirus, pushing Florida’s death toll to 13,579.

Tuesday’s data showed an increase from Monday, when the Florida Department of Health noted 22 deaths from coronavirus-related illness.

The most recent report also revealed 2,470 new cases of the virus, an increase from the 1,685 cases reported on Monday.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 687,909 cases of coronavirus recorded in Florida.

Of the latest 99 deaths statewide, 21 involved Central Florida residents, including six from Volusia County, five from Polk County and four from Brevard County.

Lake County reported three new deaths; Orange, Osceola and Marion counties each reported a single death, according to Tuesday’s data.

Monday’s report from the state showed no additional deaths reported in any Central Florida county.

To date, the number of negative tests recorded by state health officials totals 4,444,433, an increase of 16,612 since Monday.

Marion: 9,491 (38) - 261 deaths (+1)

Sumter: 2,180 (+16) - 65 deaths (0)
