WALT DISNEY WORLD, Fla. — Disney revealed new details and updates for Walt Disney World during the annual D23 fan event, including new attractions, opening dates, and renovations planned across all four theme parks.
At the D23 Experiences panel, Disney leaders and Imagineers discussed several projects currently underway at the resort.
Magic Kingdom
At Magic Kingdom, Disney revealed more details about Piston Peak National Park, which is replacing opening-day attractions Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and Liberty Square Riverboat.
The new land will feature two attractions: Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along and Cars Ridge Run Rally.
According to Disney, Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along will feature a school-bus-sized animatronic of Miss Fritter and take along her “wildest demolition derby”.
Cars Ridge Run Rally will take riders up Piston Peak, then down for a bumpy descent, eventually reaching Geyser Field, which will feature water elements.
Disney also announced the official name for the new land will be Villains Land, to match other areas of the park like Tomorrowland and Fantasyland.
The area will feature two new rides, including a thrill roller coaster featuring Maleficent.
The second attraction will be a dark ride centered around the Magic Mirror.
The Carousel of Progress is also undergoing a major renovation after closing last month.
The updated attraction will feature Jamie Lee Curtis and Bryan Cranston as the new voices of the mother and father in the ride.
It is set to reopen in Spring 2027.

One is called Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto and will take guests inside the Madrigal family’s famous Casita while they celebrate Antonio’s gift day. They say it will a family-friendly ride with no heigh requirement.
Another major update will come to Expedition Everest. Imagineers confirmed that the Yeti will become a moving animatronic again after almost 20 years as a stationary element in the ride.
Hollywood Studios
For Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney announced that Monstropolis will open to guests next year.
The new area will bring the world of “Monsters, Inc.” to the park with a new theatre show, restaurant, quick-service food, gift shop, and Monsters University Alumni Club.
