Florida reports more than 15K new COVID-19 cases, 110 virus-related deaths on Saturday

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported 15,019 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

This is less than the 10,976 cases on Friday and 11,423 reported Thursday.

Hispanics receiving COVID-19 vaccines at much lower rates than white Americans, data shows Latinos in Florida have experienced COVID-19 infection rates twice that of whites, and now, state data shows they’re also getting vaccinated at much lower rates (, /WFTV)

Of the new cases reported Saturday, 3,235 were in Central Florida. Orange County reported the most cases with 942.

According to state records, 1,713,589 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Florida since the start of the pandemic.

State health officials also reported 110 new virus-related deaths on Saturday, including four people who were not Florida residents.

Of the new deaths reported, 24 were in Central Florida. Brevard County reported 11 new virus-related deaths since Friday.
