ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported 5,883 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday.
This is the fifth straight daily report with more than 5,000 cases in the state.
Daily cases reported for the state were below 4,000 last Saturday and below 3,000 on Sunday.

Of the new cases reported Saturday, 1,284 were in Central Florida. Orange County added the most cases with 430.
Records show 2,039,062 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Florida since the start of the pandemic.
State health officials also reported 27 new virus-related deaths, including one person who was not a Florida resident.
Of the new deaths reported, eight were in Central Florida.
Seminole and Marion counties both reported two new COVID-19 deaths. Orange, Polk, Brevard and Sumter counties all reported one new death.

Records show 33,783 people have died from COVID-19 complications in Florida since the start of the pandemic.
COVID-19 vaccination efforts also continue across the state.
Records show 5,604,283 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine in Florida with 8,469,948 doses.
