Florida reports more than 5,400 new COVID-19 cases, 96 virus-related deaths on Sunday

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported 5,436 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.

Of the new cases reported, 1,214 were in Central Florida. Orange County reported the most cases with 366.

State records show 1,821,937 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Florida since the start of the pandemic.

Heath officials also reported 96 new virus-related deaths on Sunday.

Of the new deaths reported, four were in Central Florida, including two in Marion County and one death in both Brevard and Seminole counties.

State records show 29,275 people have died in Florida from coronavirus complications since the start of the pandemic.

COVID-19 vaccinations also continue across the state, with 115,735 more doses administered in the last 24 hours.

Florida has now given out 3,437,933 total COVID-19 vaccine doses in the state.
