MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A Marion County home where a notorious gangster was killed in may soon become a tourist attraction if it’s turned into a museum.
Kate "Ma" Barker and her son took part in the longest shootout in FBI history in 1935 at their home on Lake Weir.
Agents fired 1,500 rounds into the home and the bullet holes are still there 80 years later.
Barker ran the “Barker Gang” and rented the house to use as a hideout.
The state plans to set aside $250,000 for the project.
