SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A former Seminole County teacher who traded a teen various gifts for child porn was sentenced to 27 years in prison.
Greg Vaughn, 59, pleaded guilty after agents found pictures of the teen on his computer.
Officials said Vaughn, a Hagerty High School psychology teacher, met a 14-year-old girl on a tutoring website and groomed her to send him child porn in exchange for gifts, including money, candy and underwear.
Investigators said they also performed sex acts over Skype, but Vaughn said they were role playing for therapy.
Channel 9 learned Wednesday that this was not the first time Vaughn was investigated over a relationship with a child.
A 1999 FBI investigation accused Vaughn of planning to meet with a 16 year old while teaching in Michigan. Agents could not prove he committed a crime, so he was allowed to teach in Seminole County.
The victim's parents said their daughter has been cutting herself because she battles depression, flashbacks and nightmarish dreams.
Vaughn's attorney asked for a 15-year sentence and told the judge Vaughn was abused by an alcoholic father and neglected by his mother.
The judge gave him 27 years and called him a significant threat to the community.
Vaughn said he's helped thousands of students during his 20-year career and has never hurt any of them. His attorney plans to appeal.
